Should I use my EPFX Computer on the Internet?
For several years now people have asked me that question. While there are advantages to dedicating your computer for the Clasp32 software only, there are some things to consider that may change your mind.If you want to submit your data to the IRB Study it needs to be sent electronically over the internet.Soon the Clasp32 updates/upgrades will all be done over the internet.Soon we will also be doing various internet updates for your computer and The Quantum Alliance will be updating Training Videos and Manuals online as well. The internet is a terrific resource for information and could be used for immediate answers even during a session.I used to order my clients herbs, minerals and essential oils online while the client was with me at the end of the sessions...this was nice because they were sure to get their products rather that hearing about "procrastination factor" excuse at the next session. There are many reasons that you could come up with yourself for using the internet on your EPFX computer.
But is it safe?
It can be safe - IF - you set up and maintain your computer properly. We recommend using Norman Security Suite for this purpose.I'd like to explain a few things about Norman and maybe it will help you with this question.
All anti-virus programs are the same, right?
Wrong.Norman's maximum-security solution to computer viruses is the world's leading proactive antivirus technology - Norman SandBox.The goal of the SandBox technology is to provide continuous protection to stop new, unknown viruses and other malicious code from the time they are first released by the virus author.
Norman is different from traditional virus protection software because, unlike the others, it does not rely solely on signature files to stop new viruses. Norman SandBox stops viruses Before they enter your system by analyzing file behavior in a simulated environment.Norman Virus Control is behavior-based and proactive, not reactive.Norman is like an "internet airbag" of sorts.Would you want your automobile's airbag to be released after a crash (reactive), or during a crash (proactive)?
How does it work?
Norman's proactive antivirus solution creates a simulated computer inside of your real computer.Inside this simulated computer, Norman allows suspicious files to be executed in a completely safe environment. The Norman SandBox contains a fully simulated computer, isolated within the real computer, as part of its antivirus scanner engine; there is no need for any additional hardware.
By using this behavior-based model of virus detection, any unknown or suspicious file that is trying to enter the computer is isolated and prevented from infecting the computer system during analysis. As the virus unfolds, Norman will monitor and assess the behavior of any suspicious files. These files are placed on the simulated hard disk allowed to "run their course" in the simulated environment. Suspicious files are unaware of the fact that they are operating in a simulated world.
Based on the analysis, the system will determine whether to quarantine the file or to allow the file to enter the computer itself.
Inside the simulated environment the file may do whatever it wants. It can infect files. It can delete files. It can copy itself over networks. It can connect to an IRC server. It can send e-mails. It can set up listening ports. Every action it takes is registered by the antivirus program, because it is effectively the emulator that takes action based on the code in the file. No code is executed on the real CPU except for the antivirus emulator engine; even the hardware in the simulated PC is emulated.
Norman's mission is not to monitor and stop potentially harmful actions at runtime; the goal is to figure out what the program would have done if it had been allowed to run wild on an unprotected machine, in an unprotected network.
Studies show that as many as 90% of home computers have been infected with spyware at some time. While Norman inspects your computer for viruses in real time with its on-demand and on-access scanner engines, Norman Security Suite will clean your computer of spyware that you may have unknowingly downloaded while surfing the internet.Norman Security Suite provides advanced protection against spyware that secretly attaches and takes control of your computer, resulting in aggressive advertising pop-ups, sluggish computer activity, even identity theft through stolen bank details, passwords, and credit card account numbers.
Norman's solution to malware: Let the virus execute its game. Then control the game!
If you watched the video's that are linked above, and it didn't "hit you in the back of the head" - then watch the video's again with the above information in mind. When you understand the concept of how Norman actually works, you'll understand why I always say that Norman currently has the best virus protection suite on the planet.
Is it really that good?
Many people call our office and say that someone from Microsoft or another computer company had referred them to Norman Products because they know Norman's program can actually remove viruses from computers that their current software was unable to detect. We actually see this happen all the time!
I personally have been using Norman for several years and have installed it on thousands of computers.Over the past 10 years I have used many "Anti-Virus" software packages such as Symantec (Norton), PC-Cillian, Kaspersky, McAfee, CA Antivirus, Panda, and probably some others that I can't even remember.Norman has out performed them all. They have a unique system that is very effective.Norman is the only virus protection software that we will sell, service and support.I would like to say that we work very closely with Norman Technical Support team, but we really don't have much of a need to ever call them.In 2007 I only remember 2 instances on support calls that we have needed to get them directly involved. We also have not found a single instance of Norman interfering with the Clasp32 software. In my opinion, it is the best Data Security Suite on the planet.
If you only have one computer to use, Norman might be the answer you have been looking for.If you have several computers and are tired of transferring files between the internet computer and the EPFX computer, Norman might be your answer too.I highly recommend that you consider this information for your EPFX computer, as well as any other computer you own.at the top of this page you will see the pricing for Norman's new Security Suite...keep in mind those packages allow you to use the software on up to 3 computers...Wow, doesn't that make Norman the most cost effective security software on the market? (well, except for the free programs that don't actually work)
Quantum Computers, LLC is one of the largest regional distributors for Norman Data Defense Systems, Inc.We offer the above discounted pricing for all EPFX practitioners.I don't mean to sound like a commercial, but we are here to help with any and all computer needs... that's what we do.I strongly believe that Norman should be a major consideration for EPFX computer as well as All of the other computers you own.Think about what it cost you the last time your computer went down because of a virus. If it hasn't happened to you yet, and you don't have Norman software, it will happen eventually.Even if you do not use your computer on the internet, you can still get viruses from USB Flash Drives, CD's, DVD's and Flash Memory cards from Digital Cameras. So why wait until the crash, make sure your airbag works Before it's too late.
Hopefully this article has given you some information that will help you in your decision of whether to use your EPFX computer on the internet. If you have any questions please feel free to give us a call.
